Such hyped games which were very amazing and thrilling but never got launched. Usual games get released every day but these games despite being special got never released. So, i'm Zen, and today we will talk about those games which disappeared for some reason or the other, i.e. were never released or got cancelled. These include from Tencent's big announcement to ambitious projects of indie studios. So, are you ready to find out? Let's begin!
Path of Exile Mobile
- Publisher: Grinding Gear Games
- Genre: Role Playing
November 2019. News comes in that Grinding Gear Games has announced bringing their hit free-to-play action RPG to mobile devices. The studio also revealed that the game will not have any “useless trends” like microtransactions and pay-to-win elements. It is being developed by the same team that developed the original console version. The developers stressed that the mobile version will be the original game, designed keeping in mind the smartphone screen and quick gaming sessions. Unfortunately, there is no news yet about a Path of Exile mobile release date.
Spyjinx
- Publisher: Epic Games
- Genre: Role-Playing, Strategy
Spyjinx was announced in 2020. This game was going to come in collaboration with the well-known publisher Epic Games and Bad Robot Games. Its portrait gameplay shown in the trailer created a lot of hype. Well, it has been five years since the announcement, and now even the developers must have forgotten that they have a game named Spyjinx.
The Ragnarok
- Publisher: NetEase Games
- Genre: MMORPG
If this were any other game, no one would have paid any attention to it, but this is NetEase Games' AAA open-world MMORPG, Project Ragnarok, so it's important. Since the game's announcement in 2020, there has been no update on the game's release date. Given NetEase's history of large-scale MMOs, it would have been interesting to see how they bring a AAA experience to mobile, but now we may never see it.
King of Hunters
- Publisher: NetEase Games
- Genre: MOBA, Open World
In 2018, NetEase Games in Japan announced a game called King of Hunters, which was going to be a mix of battle royale and moba elements, offering an open-world in which players could choose a career, equip weapons, and fight for dominance. The game also underwent several closed beta tests, but despite this, NetEase Games never provided a specific release date.
Code-T
- Publisher: NetEase Games
- Genre: Cyberpunk
This game is also from NetEase, which is a cyberpunk mobile game. The game was supposed to be a futuristic bounty hunter experience set in a crime-filled neon city. The teaser had a lot of vibes, but only vibes. The game completely disappeared after its initial announcement. No updates, no betas, and no hints. It seems like one of those projects that seemed cool in a meeting, and then was quietly cancelled.
H1Z1 Mobile
- Publisher: Daybreak Game Company
- Genre: Battle Royale
There was a time when H1Z1 was a big name in battle royale, so it was important to make a mobile version of it. Daybreak Game Company even partnered with Nantworks to make this possible. But after Nantworks backed out, the development of this game stopped. H1Z1 is already struggling to stay relevant on PC and PS4, and now thinking about its mobile version is like daydreaming. It is not wrong to say that H1Z1 is now dead.
Pitch Clash
- Publisher: KONAMI
- Genre: Sports
You all know how much people love football, and when Konami announced the release of their new football game, Pitch Clash, there was a lot of hype among a lot of players. It came in early access on android, some players even tried it, and then nothing. The game just disappeared. Konami has a history of shutting down projects.
Vive Le Football
- Publisher: NetEase
- Genre: Sports
You might be aware of this game, because according to some players it is running in China under the name of Green Faith, but it has been a long time since the global news came out. Vive le football gave a new introduction of mobile football with many new features, some players also tried it, but this is in 2021? Since then, there has been no active interest shown in the release of the game on a global scale, I hope this will change, but I don't see anything changing in the coming time?
Splitgate
- Publisher: 1047 Games
- Genre: Action
When 1047 Games hinted at a mobile version of Splitgate, it sounded great, because who wouldn't want to play a Halo-style FPS on their smartphone! But 1047 Games started working on new projects, which shows that this was never a solid plan, just an idea that will "maybe" be done someday. Expecting a Splitgate mobile is as pointless as expecting Half-Life 3. This is also a game whose hope of coming is almost over.
Fading City
NetEase Games and Ace Studios announced Fading City, an open-world survival game that had a lot of potential. It was being built using Unreal Engine 4, which was a bit old technology at the time when Unreal Engine 5 was available. The game was supposed to take place in an atmospheric wasteland city where players would have to fight for survival after a devastating disaster. A closed beta test of the game was even launched, but after that? Silence. No new updates, no official release. The game almost got cancelled, turning out to be true to its name "Fading City" (which means disappearing city).
King’s Chess
- Publisher: Level Infinite
- Genre: Strategy
Honor of Kings is a huge hit, so when Timi Studios and Tencent Games announced king’s chess, an auto-chess spin-off, they thought it would be a success without all the hard work. But the hype didn’t last long. There haven’t been any major updates since its reveal, leaving fans wondering if the project is still moving forward or if Tencent just announced it and forgot about it.
Codename CrossFire 0 (CF0)
- Publisher: Tencent Games
- Genre: Action
Another crossfire game from Tencent Games' timi Y3 Studio, sounds exciting, especially for mobile players. But codename CF0 failed to live up to its impressive announcement. No gameplay details, no tests, just a name and a trailer that's gathering dust. Given Tencent's history of launching many projects and quietly shutting down some, this game is probably over before it even starts.
Dragon Sword (Project D)
People started talking about it when Hound 13 revealed Dragon Sword (Project D), an open-world RPG that was immediately compared to Genshin Impact. The game was set to launch on both PC and mobile, and early footage looked promising. But after the initial excitement, things went quiet. No updates, no test phases, just another high-stakes RPG that will probably never leave development.
Project ME
- Publisher: Nuverse
- Genre: RPG
Nuverse announced Project Me, an open-world RPG developed by Panthea Games, but little information has been given other than a teaser trailer. While the game did seem to have some world-building to offer, there haven't been any major updates since the teaser. It's one of those games that theoretically sounds good but never makes it to launch. Still, it's been two years since the original announcement, so there's still hope.
Roller Champions
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Genre: Sports
Ubisoft attempted in 2019 to make Roller Champions, a free-to-play multiplayer skating game where players tackle and pass each other as they move through a high-speed velodrome. It eventually launched on PC and consoles, but a mobile version? Still missing. Given Ubisoft's history of absurd support for games, it wouldn't be surprising if a mobile version never rolls out.
Total War: Elysium
- Publisher: SEGA
- Genre: Strategy
Announced as Creative Assembly's first project in the CCG (collectable card game) genre, Total War: Elysium aimed to mix strategy with historical warfare. The game featured legendary generals and a deck-building system that allowed players to craft powerful strategies. A closed beta was launched exclusively for Android, with plans for expansion to PC and iOS. Despite initial excitement and with no updates since its last test phase, it looks like another ambitious project that never moved beyond beta.
SICO
- Publisher: Indic Arena
- Genre: Battle Royale
After PUBG Mobile was banned in India, many fake games came out which tried to copy PUBG, one of them was SICO. Its full name was Special Insurgency Counter Operation, and the game promised to offer a mix of classic multiplayer modes like battle royale and team death match, domination and gun race. During testing in 2021, they removed that version due to technical difficulties in handling the server, and no announcement was made after that.
Age of KITA
- Publisher: Lilith Games
- Genre: strategy
Lilith Games, the studio behind Rise of Kingdoms, introduced a futuristic spin on its popular strategy formula in 2021 called Age of KITA. The game was launched in early access for Android in the UK, but it never received a full global release. No updates and no announcements were made, leaving Age of KITA quietly disappearing, leaving players wondering if Lilith Games would ever plan to revive it.
Undying Mobile
Undying Mobile was developed by Vanimals, which was set to bring its emotional survival story to Android and iOS in 2022. Despite an early access update and a public roadmap, Undying Mobile was never released globally on mobile. The game has been released on other platforms, but despite this, there has been no official announcement and information for mobile devices for years, which left players very disappointed by the game not being released on mobile devices.
Rogue Company: Elite
- Publisher: Hi-Rez Studios
- Genre: Action
Hi-Rez studios announced Rogue Company: Elite as a mobile adaptation of their popular team-based shooter, promising a fast-paced experience with customizable controls, high-resolution graphics, and even a 120fps option. The game became available for pre-registration on Android and iOS, transferring well-known ROGUE Company characters like Ronin and Anvil to mobile. Despite technical tests and leaked gameplay, Rogue Company: Elite never released as promised.
Paladins Strike
- Publisher: Hi-Rez Studios
- Genre: MOBA
It was one of those hyped games which raised a lot of expectations in the minds of players. Hi-rez studios quietly shut down the game, and if you see the views of the trailer, it now has more than 2.3 million views, which makes people think that Paladins Strike can still come back.
Rebel Riders
- Publisher: King
- Genre: Action
Rebel Riders is a PvP action game developed by King, the same company that developed Candy Crush. The game features misfit toys forming a secret underground battle club, which engages in 3v3 vehicular combat and a 10-player battle royale mode called Battle Toyale. Despite a soft-launch in selected regions, Rebel Riders was never released. King hasn't released any updates, so it seems the game was quietly shut down, leaving its toy-fighting concept forgotten.
